Victorian Pics

Oh, man, I’d totally forgotten about drawing that orgone cabinet. Andrew was trying to teach me how to do ink washes, something I’ve never gotten the hang of. Orgone, the orgasmic universal life force theorized by agreeably cantankerous 1930s psychologist Wilhelm Reich, comes up from time to time in Narbonic.

In other news, thanks to everyone who came out to Borderlands Books tonight for Narbonic: The Perfect Collection book release party! It was a blast. The strip dramatizations were especially moving. And for everyone who couldn’t make it, the big Narbonic collection is, of course, available online at the Couscous store

And in other other news, Jim McGrath made a Sir Pounce Jack-O-Lantern this Halloween! How boss is this?

Thanks, Jim!

  1. Silhouette-Dave’s looking pretty classy with that pipe, though it’s hard to imagine him as a smoker.

I suspect Mell is a reverse phrenologist.

  2. @John: You mean a retrophrenologist?  (A term coined by Terry Pratchett)  I suppose after a visit with Mell, the patients would find their personalities altered … for one thing, they’d have a fear of young women with mallets.

  3. I know what it’s supposed to be for, but I never really understood how an orgone cabinet is supposed to work.

  4. “How boss is this,” you ask? Very, very boss indeed. I think if someone were to ask, “How much more boss could this get?”, the answer would have to be, “None. None more boss.”

  5. SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

    Because I said I would 😀

Thanks for another 15 minutes of internet fame Shaenon, and thanks for confirming its bossness Andrew. It’s the first time I’ve tried something complex (instead of triangle eyes and a jaggedy mouth) and I’m pretty chuffed with the result. I’ll have to see if I can beat it next year 😉

    (p.s. chuffed? Yes, I’m british 🙂 )
