Adventures Into Digital Comics

This strip is embarrassing. I was pissed at the Penny Arcade guys for doing a strip making fun of specific people in the Digital Comics documentary, including friends of mine. They have to pull a dick move every once in a while, I guess. Apparently they were made about not being in the documentary, having forgotten that the filmmaker had asked them and they turned him down.
It all seems pretty silly now. And that’s why I don’t pay attention to webcomics drama anymore.
My only comment is that you should have perhaps grayscaled all of the photos so that they would fit in better, chromatically speaking, with the drawn art.
I have to admit they were horribly right, though.

Our Shaenon’s in a film, you know!
Penny Arcade are dicks!
But Gabe and Tycho didn’t show!
Penny Arcade are dicks!
Shaenon’s clever, Shaenon’s cute!
Gabe and Tycho get the loot!
(Got a PC game, to boot!)
Penny Arcade are dicks!
Oh, Shaenon is now in a movie
Penny Arcade guys will hate!
Don’t care if they disapprove-y!
This movie is groovy and great!
You were an extra in Citizen Toxie? Cool. I may have to watch it again and look for you (I first saw the movie as part of a festival of world cinema, of all places).
They are terrible people for their utter lack of empathy when sexual abuse survivors objected to a rape joke in their strip. It all devolved into fans making T-shirts about how rape is hilarious and triggery people are losers. They are totally worth not paying attention to.
Like I said to Shaenon down below, I used to read Penny Arcade up until that disaster, then decided they weren’t worth my time. Making a rape joke in itself is a pretty asshole move IMHO. Turning the fallout from that totally unnecessary rape joke into a chance to rag on rape victims and making even more rape jokes just proves that Tycho and Gabe obviously don’t know how to be decent humans.
As a guy, I don’t find rape very funny at all, even without having known a few women who were victims of it. And blaming the victims, or making really rotten jokes about the subject is very offensive to me, let alone how pretty much any woman feels about it. I’d be cold-assed and say that I hope that those two find out what it feels like firsthand, but I refuse to sink down to their level.
I went to see if Netflix Instant Watch had Adventures Into Digital Comics, which they don’t, but when I had completed the word “Adventures” it suggested Adventures in Pornoland. I think Adventures Into Digital Comics sounds much more interesting, personally.
@Shaenon: IMHO, Penny Arcade IS a dick move. I used to read them up until the whole “dickwolves” fiasco, then got so pissed off at their mishandling of the situation that I decided never to read their strip again. So yeah, go ahead and rag on them all you like as far as I’m concerned. Making rape jokes? Very not cool. Making the fallout from making a rape joke into a big joke in itself? Even smarter than trying to douse a chemical fire by dumping napalm on it.

DON’T be embarrassed about this strip! Instead, be happy that they weren’t in the documentary, because anyone who finds blaming rape victims for being victims of the worst violation possible doesn’t deserve to suck clean air, if you know what I mean. If anything, those two should be stuck at Chernobyl with the rest of the toxic waste!
