I really needed to do more illustrations like that first one. Genius!

The second illustration is based on one of the most famous of John R. Neill’s Oz illustrations, of Princess Langwidere in Ozma of Oz. As far as creepy stuff in the Oz books goes, Princess Langwidere ties for my favorite with the scene in The Tin Woodman of Oz where the Tin Woodman meets all his detached human body parts and they kind of hate him. Man, I love the Oz books.

This installment is dedicated to the Starbuck Avenger, heroine of Jeff Wells’s online serial Tales of the Starbuck Avenger.

Speaking of Jeff, he and I are finally publishing a third Skin Horse collection, and we’re running a Kickstarter campaign to fund it. Behold the full panoply of wonders here. Yes!

  1. Sunday:

It’s lines like “Well, it looks like those fools at the Institute were right after all!” that remind me why you serialised and illustrated this thing.

  2. My ex-wife was an expert at IRrational failure assessment, which mainly consisted of, “This is YOUR fault!”

  3. I don’t understand the “menthol” line. Does Dave eat a lot of honey-and-lemon throat sweets or something?

  4. @eddurd: I think that’s a feature in most ex-wives.

@daibhidc: This has been running long enough that you just forget that it was before Dave stopped himself from starting to smoke.
