Color Narbonic Posters

Yup, color posters. Not much else to say here, although it was fun to do full-length color drawings of the characters. I used these posters to decorate my very first convention table, at the 2001 Alternative Press Expo, which I shared with Eunice Kim and one Andrew Farago. Ah, memories.

  1. Today, let’s talk about colour schemes.
    1) Was Mell’s colour scheme always white with red-and-black, even from the beginning?
    2) Was there any temptation to give one of your characters purple hair?
2a) Not even a little bit?
    3) Looking back across previous Sundays, I notice that the colour of Dave’s clothes varies significantly (depending on the month, his undershirt is either blue, green or red). Is this shortsightedness on your part, or realism with regard to Dave’s wardrobe?

P.S: I believe this is the first time I’ve seen Mr. Farago enfleshed. Ummm… your depictions of him don’t quite do him justice?

  2. When I finally stumbled across Narbonic (incidentally scraping a few lobes in the fall), probably just less than a year after it started, I enjoyed it so much that I printed out the Dave poster from this set and put it on my door so other people in the dorm could enjoy the comic as well. It became a tradition, with me making posters by pasting a few of my favorite strips from as many of my favorite webcomics as I could fit on a sheet of paper and hanging them. I doubt I actually stimulated any interest, but at least my door was no longer the only bare one on campus.

  3. Hey, what’s the font that is used for the big coloured urls here? Just curious, if anyone knows or can remember….

  4. 1) Was Mell’s colour scheme always white with red-and-black, even from the beginning?

Yes. Mell is in black, white, and red, one of the strongest color combinations. Helen is in pastels. Dave is in earth tones.

    Um. No.

Like I said, Dave always has the same general color scheme, but I do let him change his shirts (this is even mentioned in a much, much later daily strip, wherein Mell remarks on Dave’s T-shirt rotation). The colors in his flannel shirt change regularly, too.

    Well, duh.

  5. I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned it, but I’m very jealous. Andrew is quite the dish. 🙂
